While the instrumentation is a fairly standard rock/blues ballad, the subject matter seems to be about languishing depression: “Layin’ in bed / she’s got the blues / spending all her time / watching the news / sick and tired of the same old ruse / running down a short fuse.” Compared to the lyrical subtlety of “Hot Air Balloon” and “Let’s Go,” the lyrics of “Monday Night – (Live in Studio)” seem almost too literal.īuried Giant excel in creating music that is atmospheric and pushes boundaries while still remaining accessible and listenable. “Monday Night – (Live in Studio)” is the track that I am struggling to pinpoint for Buried Giant, and it’s the song that seems to rely the heaviest on lyricism. Quite frankly, this song rocks, and the guitar solos peppered throughout are gritty and catchy. “Swallow The Sun” errs from the progressive, introspective feeling of the EP and dives straight into metal. Concept art is sourced from the Metal Slug PlayStation Art Gallery, the Metal Slug Official Guide Book, the Metal Slug 6 Art Gallery, the Metal Slug Anthology Art Gallery (ripped by redblueyellow), the Metal Slug 10th Anniversary website, the Metal Slug Attack Illustration Gallery, Neo Geo Freak June 1996 and June 1998 (thanks to Divison for the scans), Gamest issue 152, and SNK Arcade. On the other hand, the title track “Swallow The Sun” is an outlier in the EP, with a straightforward, southern rock backbone. The chord progression feels experimental and fresh, but the song maintains a bluesy aura. The biggest contrast in genres, as well as the two strongest songs on the EP are “Hot Air Balloon” and “Swallow The Sun.” “Hot Air Balloon” is in 6/8 time, with intricate, looped guitar work and a perfectly drawn-out instrumental section that channels the feeling of weightlessness and detachment. In each song, there is emotive power in the instrumentation harmonizing with the lyrical subject matter. There are moments of weightless, ethereal guitarwork balanced with heavy, straightforward rock. This EP is a sampler of Buried Giant’s hybrid of blues, psych and even metal influences. 1/10 for me is when the game is unplayable, and - for me - this game isn't playable at all.Buried Giant = Shawn James & the Shapeshifters + Jeff Buckley + Private Islandīluesy and complex, Buried Giant run the gamut of genres and emotions through their four-song EP Swallow The Sun. btw: I know there is a lot of biased reviews finished with 1/10 score. Didn't finish even first game out of seven.

Overall, Metal Slug Anthology PS4 is a very big disappointed and needs to either be updated to have very minimal input lag or completely remade so it can look more modern(The graphics in-game game are fine as they are old school arcade games). Wouldn't it have been nice to see wide screen support and possibly online play.

Another complaint i will make is that this a port from the PS2 and not a remake. For needing to constantly dodge bullets and hazards it can become very frustrating when you just hit a bullet because of the input lag. I will say the intro gave me child hood vibes and was excited to get straight into the action. Being a hardcore Metal Slug gamer I can personally say that this is a pathetic port to come over from PS2 to PS4.
